Camera Angles
Hi so today I learnt about camera angles, so using a music video i decided to screenshot a variety of camera angles the directors use to establish what is occurring in the music videos. Below I have further defined what each angle is and my interpretation of why it has been used using Beyonce's music video as an example.
- Close up - A certain feature of part of the subject takes up the whole frame. The director has placed this at the very beginning of the music video when she is speaking to ensure that all concentration is on her voice and nothing else.
- Wide angle shot- the subject takes up the full frame or at least as much as comfortably possible. Referring to this wide angle shot it displays everything in the shot taking up the frame, this was one of the first shots in the video.
- High angle - a shot that shows the subject from above this gives the effect of diminishing the subject, making them appear less powerful and less significant. This high angle shot is as if someone is up above and is very brief when in the video, you can barely identify where she is as it is not very clear either.
- Eye line/ eye level shot - this is the real world angle that we are used to. It shows subjects as we would expect to see them in real life. Similarly in this screenshot where Beyonce is seen standing at a similar height as you would in 'real life'.
- Establishing shot - A shot which establishes the positions of the element(characters) relative to each other and identifies the setting, normally a long shot which is often first in the sequence. Ironically this was one of the last shots of the video possibly to determine what has happened in the music video. Showing where and who she is with.
- Low angle shot - This shows the subject from below, giving the impression of being more powerful and dominant. In the shot below you are able to visually. In this music video i found this low angle shot referring to Beyonce feeling more powerful with freedom to do anything. Additionally the next shot pans out to show her standing on top of a car.
- Long shot - a shot in which large object (e.g.: a complete human figure) fits easily within the frame. Here you can see Beyonce is walking across the street clearly with her entire body fitting well within the frame as well as others on the left hand side.
- Two shot - A shot in which two characters appear in the frame. This is clearly shown in the example, however this is filmed whilst the two characters were underwater therefore this shot may be to focus on their expression and state they are currently in.
- Aerial shot - A shot filmed from an aeroplane, helicopter, blimp, balloon, kite, or high building e.g: higher than a crane.
- Over the shoulder shot - a shot taken over the shoulder of a character showing exactly what the character is seeing.
- Point of view shot - This shot is filmed from the character/ what the individual is looking at through the camera shot.
- Shot reverse shot - A filming technique where it is shot as if one character looking at another, and then is shot as the other character is looking at the first character. This is sometimes used to showcase and intensify both emotions.
- Mid Shot - A shot taken not too far and not too close (medium distance). This enables the individual to fit comfortably within the frame.
- Birds eye - This is usually shot from above from the perspective of how a bird would see the object.

School magazine analysis
Within this post I am going to analyse two different school magazines including my interpretation of why they have included particular aspects and what it represents/implies.
The front page does not look interesting however appears to be well presented as if it could potentially be a private school. After doing some research i found this was a secondary school that provide bursaries and scholarships as well as what seems a high education. The professionalism also gives the impression that it is a school that is deemed to be sophisticated but quite interactive due to the colour allowing it to further appeal to children to read the magazine. The background further looks more like a piece of artwork that is quite old and authentic as if they want to keep their previous style. It seems to show that it is targeted for students as well as parents or carers due to it being well formatted but still remains to have a laid back feel.
The contents page shows the variety of different activities and events showing they specialise in a variety of areas making it more diverse. The school has also included a welcome section on the contents page to ensure that the magazine and school itself is possibly well introduced with a picture included of the head teacher. This could also imply that to the parents the head teacher is aware and still present in making decisions even towards areas like the school magazine.
This magazine is different to the one above due to it being an international school based for families to be in education. This is not very common however from the front page it looks very welcoming due to the image being of an entire family. It also creates somewhat of a comfortable atmosphere due to it looking quite natural but not too professional making it look appealing for everyone to be involved within.
The contents page further shows the diverse community created by the school as well as presenting many different events and information that gives important knowledge to the families. The image also portrays an enjoyable experience relating to the theme of the magazine of school being enjoyable. Additionally the paragraph at the bottom of the page is similar to a brief introduction to the magazine showing that they truly care.

Colour psychology
Colour psychology can have different connotations towards
different people. Typically it is assumed to be the same for every individual
however differs depending on the person. Although it is usually surrounded by
the same subject. For example red is typically referred to coca cola.
Black - This
colour is quite dark and mostly represents dark connotations
like death, evil and power. Although it may
further represent formality due to many individuals wearing black
when dressing 'smart'.
Grey -
This colour is quite dull and boring and is some
cases not even considered a colour.
Brown - Brown does not represent a wide
variety of things however it can connote naturalness, strength,
reliability, sadness, isolation and security.
Green
- Green is instantly associated with nature as well as freshness
and possibly being healthy. However it further represents envy,
tranquillity and fertility which are all completely different
to each other.
Blue
- Can represent purity, cleanliness, trust, calmness, serenity,
productivity, sadness, and trust.
White -
This is commonly represents purity, emptiness, cleanliness, innocence
and coldness.
Purple - Purple is quite an unusual
colour which you could associate with royalty wealth and wisdom.
However it could further represent mystery and spirituality.
Pink - This is quite a pretty colour that
represents love, romance, and kindness, possibly calming and
referred to sweets.
Red - Red is one of the most common colour that represents
anger, love, romance, danger, passion and blood
due to it being an intense colour.
Orange - This colour is similar to brown however a lot is warmer and referred to excitement and enthusiasm however could also represent a warning or being alarmed

Demographics
So there are 7 different groups of how the demographic breaks the system down into groups job and pay. This allows individuals to define the adult population largely by work, labelling them by using a letter code to describe the income and status.
I was able to understand that the order descends from upper middle class being the top paid down to the population of unemployed individuals receiving benefits based upon the amount they earn.
A - Upper Middle Class (higher managers; Doctors; lawyers)
B - Middle Class (middle managers; teachers)
C1 - Lower Middle Class ( office workers)
C2 - Skilled working class (skilled manual workers; plumbers, builders, electricians)
D - Working Class
E - Unemployed receiving benefits
