26.12.16 - Weekly Update
Mainly mood boards this week. Went really quick with xmas being soon aswell. Finished my contents and front cover mood boards using pinterest and put links on my posts so you could see the whole page. This was simple and allowed me to create an idea of how I would potentially layout my magazine pages. Finally finished my readership profile using my questionnaire data to be specific. This therefore will means I can adjust my magazine to best satisfy the target market for my music magazine, to assist me with this I finished a detailed analysis of 2 pop genre music magazines to inspire the magazine I will be creating. It allowed me to consider what my usp would be to differentiate my magazine from the rest aswell as identifying the common aspects most pop music magazines have in common (such as artists, bright colours). See you next year for more updates. Byeee!
Pop genre music magazine comparison
The masthead is clear and easily recognisable for the consumer to notice as the black significantly stands out against the white speech bubble. The bold font and shortness of the name makes the magazine more memorable to grab the audiences attention. You can instantly identify the target audience as being mainly female teenagers due to the obsessive us of pink throughout the front cover. Pink connotes femininity which justifies this, despite the magazine being somewhat chaotic you are still able to see the colour scheme of mainly pink, purple, white and black. The main image is of a female pop star which is in the centre to attract fans to be interested in what the magazine is about, aswell as there being a lot of secondary images and cover lines to anticipate what is inside to grab the audiences attention. Cheryl could be on the front cover as a role model to be an inspiration for younger girls aswell as possibly one of their favourite music artists. Including the 10 posters that are inside each issue which is an incentive to purchase the magazine as they are most likely some of the customers favourite artists. Furthermore due to the target audience most likely being younger and living at home they may enjoy using the posters to decorate which allows it to relate more so to them. There is a lot on this front cover as this is a weekly magazine therefore they need to include as much as possible to inform the consumer. It is clear that they do not just restrict their magazine to music only as they have a cover line for 'summer shopping guide' which would clearly attract female audiences. The flash is bright yellow and ultimately stands out against all of the other aspects on the front cover although it is still reasonably small. Referring back to the top strip it is about another popular well known music artist, Justin Bieber. The question is quite interesting and makes them want to read the magazine and find out what gossip there is.
Billboard:
The main image is of a big music artist 'Katy Perry' who is in the centre dominating the front cover as it is one of the main features of the magazine to attract the consumer. The flowers, hair, makeup and dress are all aspects that create a sense of femininity that immediately suggests it is targeted at mainly females. You can immediately see that the style is still pop with a fun edge but still sophisticated. There are aspects of it being a smart professional and high end as it is quite simple. It is a monthly magazine which justifies why the front page does not look chaotic and the layout is more simplistic, which contributes to the higher price. The masthead and the cover lines all use the same bold font which remains within the colour scheme being, although her name 'Katy Perry' is in a different font which allows it to stand out. Representing the significance and importance of her she is overlapping the masthead. The focus is also towards the flash which draws attention to the feature inside it, the bright outline causes it to stand out. The masthead is striking and bold with the contrast of the bright blue and yellow against the harsh black to ensure the magazine is recognisable. The cover lines emphasise what is inside the magazine with brief details, additionally the use of yellow contrasts and catches the audiences eye as it makes it clear that it is still important to read. I noticed on this particular music magazine front cover there is no bar code which either means it is a monthly subscription that is sent to customers and therefore cannot be sold in stores or the barcode is on the back. This is a good idea to make the consumer pick the magazine up and look at the back for the price which allows them to see what else the magazine includes. After researching I found that this was a July issue which justifies why the flowers were used to link with the summer theme aswell as adding to the feminine feel.
I also decided to look into Glamour magazine as I specifically found the sophistication and simplicity combined with the bright vibrant colors to specifically attract me and therefore attract the higher end of the target market that I am currently deciding on targeting, The ideas and simple font style holds a sense of professionalism which I found somewhat subverts the pop genre but in a good way as it appears less childish and more for older youth whom also enjoy pop music. You can immediately see the magazine holds a fun energetic nature which is similar of the Pop genre which would attract and appeal to a consumer wanting to purchase it. Additionally the cover lines being different sizes and some in different fonts seem to be a good detail that allows a reader to look at each bit of content and therefore could be an aspect I try and incorporate. This therefore all together seems to attract a more mature audience whom enjoy reading fashion and is therefore something I will use as inspiration for the final product as this specifically alongside the simple masthead is unique and is differentiated well from the other magazines which makes it more appealing. I will consider this to form a clear brand for my magazine as it is clear in all of the above including this that a strong brand attracts an audience and allows them to recognize it frequently on a shelf.

Readership profile
My readership profile consists of both boys and girls, majority being females and aged around 16-17 years of age. Using the data gathered from my questionnaire i can understand that my target market audience for my pop genre music magazine rarely go to concerts and on average preferred monthly magazines more than weekly magazines, but not by a lot. They mainly enjoy listening to music and meeting up with friends which is relevant as it allows me to specifically include content like new music or concerts/festivals to go to with your friends which will intrigue/attract them to the magazine more. Although i found that most people who took my questionnaire said they only go to concerts once a year or never which could be due to them not being aware of them so i could include some advertisements to make people aware of events where they can easily access tickets. After asking whether my target audience would mind having advertisements in the music magazine almost all of them said no which is good as i can then specify areas to relate more so to them. They have also listed their favourite songs and favourite artists, however almost all of them said they could not pick just one. This created overlaps which i could clearly see everyone had in common some favourite artists which ultimately suggests that i could include an aspect such as 'top 100 songs this month'. My audience is mainly younger teens who said they would prefer a magazine to be of a price between £1.50 - £2.00 which means that the magazine can be of a higher quality of production the more they would be wiling to pay. Additionally as my target market is of a younger generation it justifies why half of them ticked the style of the music magazine to be bright and fun and then just over quarter saying simplistic and sophisticated. Therefore i need to ensure i combine both the styles to attract my target market well. Due to the the design layout being of such importance to a magazine, the content aswell needs to be presented well. They listed that they would like to see the following: promotions, articles, interviews, festivals and reviews. Therefore suggesting that this is what my target audience want to see so i need to include to make it successful. Lastly for my magazine the usp will be surrounding the idea of discovering new artists and bands that's new music will intrigue my target audience. The fact that their music style will still be related to their preferred music type means that the focus will be to support/expose them to get into the industry and getting them recognised.
19.12.16 - Weekly update
Just finished collecting and displaying all of the data using infogram and finally posted my vox plot. It was hard to understand how to edit and slow the video down so you were able to read the writing but i got there in the end. I then collected all of the data from my questionnaires and created lots of charts on infogram, which allowed me to assess the results and understand/ gather a brief idea of what my target audience prefer. The last thing this week was my mood board which i completed on pinterest. I found around 30 images which were somewhat related to the music genre pop. This was quite good as it ensured i could gather/recognise what is associated with the music genre and how i need to visually create my magazine aesthetic. Check for more updates net week. Byeee!

Mannequin Challenge - Vox Pop
This is a vox plot in the form of the manequin challenge where i was able to write a bit of information about each individual. I edited the video and slowed it down and added music using adobe premiere pro. At first i had no idea how to use this but then gradually understood how to edit and crop video.

Audience questionaire
This is a blank questionnaire to determine what my audience's views are towards music magazines, the contents inside and etc to allow me to create a successful music magazine.
Weekly Update - 12.12.16
Finally finished my double page spread which i analysed and posted demonstrating the different aspects of a double page spread but editing in other magazines to make a 'Frankenstein' of them. Then moving onto research for my audience, in the form of the mannequin challenge I demonstrated brief audience profiles. Although I still need to add some music and post it next week so be ready to see that. I've also started writing questionnaires to gather more information to help me adjust my magazine to my audiences tastes, therefore I'm going to hand them out and then collate all of my data next week. Pop music magazine analysis
Starting with the masthead it is ‘TOP OF THE POPS’ which is not clear as it is somewhat of a circular shape which is what allows it to look like more of a flash. Although the bright colour and it being positioned at the top of the page makes it seem the name. Additionally this magazine is a monthly magazine which explains why it is so cluttered with many regulars and secondary images, further emphasizing the fact that due to this magazine being well known it can be easily recognized and therefore the fact their audience will already know means it is easy to identify the masthead. The font used for this is quite bold as well as it being sans serif. This allows the consumer to focus on the masthead first, additionally I noticed that within the name is ‘top’ which could signify why it is right at the top of the front page and not even slightly down or in the centre. Readers may like this as they will be more interested in seeing what is new from the main image rather than seeing the masthead as the main focus every week. The colour being bright pink with a thick black outline emphasizes this, despite it being positioned in the corner that contrast between the two colours means it can still stand out. The colour black connotes formality, death, evil, and mystery, which in my opinion not what they want to convey. I think they have chosen this colour to contrast significantly and create somewhat of a sense of sophistication despite it being bold and cartoonish. ‘Top of the pops’ magazine has a high production value which is evident from its glossy, weekly format. They have clearly represented this magazine supporting the pop genre by focusing on well known main stream artists like ‘Taylor swift’ which allows these music artists to be well associated. This magazine is well known for it looking chaotic and almost cluttered as there is a lot of information/content. The cover lines and flash (lettering) are all in bold font, sans serif block with its own signification of femininity as you are able to clearly see there is a lot of pink used through-out this front cover therefore implying that their target audience is mainly girls/fans despite there being a mixture of both male and female artists and some other youtubers as secondary images to entice consumers further. Taylor Swift is in the foreground towards the centre as a dominant, successful music artist in that industry. There is limited consideration of allowing this magazine to look sophisticated and minimalistic, this is due to them wanting it to look packed full of interesting content. The features are aiming towards younger ages which can be inferred from the ‘mega puzzle sesh’. Additionally you can see in one of the secondary images they are wearing a little Christmas hat which is cute and suggests this was to be sold around Christmas time however the entire them of the magazine is not surrounding the festive season and still remains to be on the pop genre. The bottom strapline is fairly small but is a warning for the contents of the magazine which are shown on the front of the magazine to intrigue the target audience to purchase as you further get small products which are quite girly. Therefore emphasizing the main audience being a majority of girls. The small details like the small stars scattered around the magazine of a cartoon feel and the variety of typography used such as the decorative font ‘merry Christmas’ on the left side and sans serif font as the flash.

Weekly Update - 05.12.16
So I started my double page spread Frankenstein which helped me to understand why certain aspects were place in certain ways. I completed 2, but need to finish briefly analysing them. Look forward to next week to see them. I analysed a music magazine (Top of the pops) in great detail aswell. Using a example to help me with the great detail of all of the small aspects of the magazine I needed to look into. Most of the tasks from last week all helped me gain knowledge on magazines and the full process that needs to be considered when creating one. That's all check for more updates next week. Byeee!

Weekly Update - 28. 11.16
Last week was full of writing! I finished comparing my different magazine genre's which allowed me to understand the small details needed to ensure a magazine is successful. Additionally I finished my feedback summary where I concluded all of the feedback which I then need to take on the improvements and follow through onto the next magazine. Lastly I created what we call a 'Frankenstein' front cover which is where I used a few different magazine parts (masthead, flash) and created somewhat of a collage/mixture to form a new magazine. I done this for both the contents page and front cover and then also analysed each aspect which allowed me to think about the effects certain features on a magazine can have on the consumer. That was all, lots of typing and analysing. Check next week for more updates. Byeee!

Comparison of two contrasting magazines
This is significantly different from the magazine below as you can visually see both of them have completely different target audiences. This is due to the colour schemes and main images being different despite the layout of them being somewhat similar. Both are good magazine front covers as they both best fit their audience well. Although within the rock magazine the colours are quite dark and harsh where as the classical magazine is darker colours but the brown is more of a warm colour. Additionally the rock magazine is not as organised as the classical magazine which is also simpler but still effective, you can see the classical magazine contains a lot more content and information on the front cover.
Rock Magazine:
This magazine consists of quite dark colors which is stereotypically associated with rock music. The main image has layers with what looks to be a band and then another rock singer in the foreground. You can see that it looks somewhat chaotic due to there being a lot of different images scattered around, yet the layout still looks somewhat organised as the flash and the features/regulars are all on the left hand side. Also the bottom strapline is quite informative and tells the target audience what the magazine includes inside. This intrigues the reader and allows them to be more interested to buy it as it is a 'souvenir special'. The is at the bottom but due to it being a bright color ensures it stands out similarly to the masthead as it is quite a large bold font. The color scheme makes the entire magazine stand out because the colors contrast significantly, making the magazine look intense. The barcode does not look realistic however still links with the theme of looking messy. The magazine looks like the magazine only cover a particular genre of rock and therefore limits the consumer.
Classical Magazine Front Cover:
This magazine is based on classical music which you can easily gather from the masthead clearly displaying what genre of music it is aswell as the main image using a violin as a prop which is associated well with classical music. The main image is also placed somewhat in the centre to ensure it is simple and the main focus of the front cover. There are not as many features and regulars which you would expect to be informative on this front cover, although there are a couple of secondary images to intrigue the reader interested in the potential content of the magazine. There is not a bottom strip however there is a top which is brief but also tells the audience a little about what is inside. The flash however is not as bold and big therefore they do not want it to be the main focus to attract readers. The colour scheme is mainly neutral colours, consisting of brown, creams and whites other than the brand logo 'BBC' which ensures that people are able to easily recognise the magazine.
Feedback Summary
My audience feedback was videoed on my phone where i asked them to tell me what is good and what is bad about both my front cover and contents page. From my audience feedback, it has allowed me to understand clear improvements that most people have mentioned. A vital improvement was for the colours of the information and content to be darker to further enhance and make it clearer and easier to read, therefore when completing my next magazine i need to make the writing colour clearer to read/ darker however still remaining vibrant. For this magazine in particular the colour grey is too light and needs to be darker but still remaining within the colour scheme. I also found that another criticism was to include the price of the magazine itself which is significant to apply to onto a front cover to ensure that my target audience are aware of it if needed. Referring back to the content and text one person gave feedback that i needed to enlarge the text as they found it slightly difficult to read, this was on the contents page. For the next magazine i need to make sure i am aware of the size rather than reducing it to make it all fit onto the page as it was difficult for them to read. Although from the feedback my target audience also gave positive feedback and said the layout of both the front cover and contents page as it looked well organised. Therefore for my next magazine i will also try to implement this layout however adjust it to ensure that that it relates to the topic which will be music. I also may adjust the size of the main image to allow it to not be the main focus. From the feedback people also said the pictures/images were also good.
Overall i need to make sure for the next magazine i need to consider the details to enhance the design of the magazine, for example the the colour, including the price, effectively adjusting the content to make it appealing to the target audience and social media/links for people who are interested.

21.11.16 - Weekly Update
Finished my preliminary task! So this week I finally completed both my front cover and contents page using Photoshop. When doing this process I had to plan for my photoshoot, this went well when we were in the studio as we were all fully prepared and had all of the props needed to create a good dynamic, ultimately producing a good picture which I used for my main image. I needed to also learn how to use the camera and ensure the background was clear as I knew this would make it easier when editing. This was my first magazine I've created so I had to quickly learn the basics of how to use Photoshop. At first it was difficult but l quickly gathered everything to produce a good outcome. Last week I also completed my audience feedback which allowed me to gather improvements for when I next do a magazine, I filmed what people said so I could gather all of the information of what was good and what needed improvements. I've began to analyse two different contrasting genres of music magazines. This meant that I could understand the layout and what details are used to create a good quality magazine (I need to finish doing this, this week). That's it from me check for more updates. Byeee!

Contents Page
My contents is clearly following through with the same theme of colors and fonts to match nicely with the folder in my models hand. When looking at this I can visually see that similar to my front cover I needed to enhance the colors to ensure that the content and text including the regulars/features attract the target audience and remain to be bold and clear to read. Therefore a darker color would contribute to this. Additionally the page numbers on the contents page need to look more organized as from afar the pastel color allows it to blend in with the page and visually looks random. Completing my contents page was a lot quicker to design and simple as I did not want it to be too packed with text as well as me being able to understand Photoshop, which allowed my to know which tools would benefit the page. This was useful when editing the image as I could erase any blemishes and remove the background easily. I am satisfied with the images chosen which I took however the bottom left corner does not look very bright nor vibrant. Therefore the next editors part I need to ensure the font is bold and looks intriguing to read. Although, the use of the fun image below does enhance the positive view of the magazine I want to portray. I like the fonts I have decided to use as there is a variety to make it look more interesting. However there is quite a lot of content and writing on this page which causes it to look quite overbearing, therefore I need to ensure I write briefly to still intrigue the audience to want to read the rest of the magazine.
Front Cover Page
This is my front cover page for my preliminary task:
My front cover looks very pretty due to the pastel colors showing a clear target audience however I feel that as an actual magazine it needs to be slightly darker but still use quite vibrant colors to ensure that features and regulars for example stand out. I found that my skills using Photoshop have significantly improved as I was unsure how to do this at the beginning, but have found that I have created a good school magazine using a variety of tools on Photoshop. The main image I have used, clearly demonstrates the concept of my magazine being based on style and dress codes for school however still includes positive content about what to or not to do for your 6form school. When looking at my magazine I have realized there is no clear demonstration of the magazine being based on 6 formers only, therefore to improve this particular magazine I need to ensure I display the logo or harris federation 6form logo to create a clear representation of it being based for 6formers in particular. Although, the name for the magazine has '6F' in standing for 6form therefore the association is still there. Furthermore for my next magazine I design I need to ensure that the main image is the main attraction however the regulars and features are too. Therefore I could improve this by making them darker and the masthead bigger to bring the attention more towards the content of the magazine. Also there are no social media links for the magazine which is important to include in every magazine. The flash is not very intriguing, which is something I could have enhanced by enlarging the font for example or choosing a brighter color that stood out more prominently. This is similar with my bottom strip, although it is bright I needed to make the font bigger and/or bolder to make it stand out further as it is meant to display and attract the target audience. All the other aspects of my magazine have mirrored my flat plan, color scheme and my overall plan therefore I am satisfied with the progress of this being my first magazine created.

14.11.16 - Weekly Update
My magazine front cover is finished. Using Photoshop I was able to learn the basics of how to create my front cover ensuring that I still used colours from my colour scheme. Using tools like: the spot healing brush, eyedropper, crop tool, magic wand, horizontal type, rectangle (shape) etc. At first I was testing what each tool done which allowed me to understand quicker how to use them, Last week I also chose my main image for the cover which is vital, I decided to use a picture with 3 models rather than 4 as it needed to take up less of the cover and allow space for the Articles etc. So that was everything last week I finished my front cover and next week I need to complete the contents page. 24.10.16 - Weekly Update
Last week was all about my magazine, I had to create a flatpan and show everything that i wanted to include for example the features and where i wanted to place the main image and cover lines. This was done on word and i was able to decide which would be best fit the idea. I then went onto the contents page and decided how i wanted to include the features and regulars. The readership profile from my questionnaire was also a task that i needed to do so i accumulated all of the data to then create my target market of who would most likely read my magazine. After all of this I had to research some photoshoot ideas to ensure I was prepared for when I was in the studio with the models. To enhance this I also made a photoshoot plan of all of the props, models, location and clothing which I had informed all to the models the day before to allow them to also be ready. So that was everything I had done last week. Keep checking for more updates and posts. Byeee!

Photoshoot Plan
Models:
Model 1 - Ruby
Model 2 - Oliwia
Model 3 - Melissa
Model 4 - Danielle
Props:
For props i am going to use folders and books aswell as possibly bags to ensure the photoshoot is still associated with 6form despite it being based on style and dress code.
Location:
For the location of my photoshoot it would be good to have it either outside to involve other aspects or in a classroom or near a desk to allow it to be easily associated with 6form and school. However if i use a plain background it would be more effective to add more text and flash to make it look more interesting.
Outfits/clothing:
Due to my magazines main concept being based on dress codes and style, it is vital that my models wear smart but nice clothes. therefore i have ensure they all wear similar colours but are still quite different styles to ensure that it portrays a fun but sophisticated atmosphere to the magazine.

Photoshoot ideas
I am now onto planning a photoshoot so i had to research some photoshoot ideas first to ensure that i was ready and prepared to start with the models. Therefore i found some images and collated them together.
Readership Profiling
This is my readership profile for both boys and girls who would most likely be in 6form and read the magazine. I used the data gathered from my questionnaire to do this. Therefore i can understand that my target market audience for the magazine will be 16-18, they enjoy freedom of school but dislike the dress code significantly. Additionally they have big aspirations for example going into a career in accountancy and also like to go out with friends, listen to music and watch tv. Ultimately suggesting i could include a section in the magazine about hobbies for 6formers aswell as dress code tips and basics. They also have included lists of shops they enjoy going to, therefore another idea would be to include discount codes within the magazine to interest them. My audience is of an older age so i will also need to target the price and the sophistication of the magazine well.

Contents Page Plan
This is my first plan for the contents page, therefore i wanted to ensure it was organised well and includes everything that should be on the contents page to inform people reading the magazine. It is quite simple and there is a lot of space to include all of the information.
This is similar to the first plan however i have rearranged it to show that the image is not the main focus and i can include the page numbers clearer as there is more space for text. However if i decide to use this contents page it will look boring as there would be too much text therefore i need to make sure that the image is interesting and looks good.
17.10.16 - Weekly Update
Decisions. Last week I had to decide my colour scheme, a name for the magazine and the type of font that would look best. When deciding all of these i decided that placing it in table form would allow me to compare all of them. Therefore starting with the colours i had to ensure i included the 6form colours which meant that all of the others had to somewhat compliment the others. So i chose bright colours that i thought would make it look interesting. For the fonts and names I thought it was important to choose many different fonts that looks completely different to each other so i can decide clearly which looked best. All of the names were quite short and simple so i decided on the name Simply 6F. My masthead colours was also important because i could see that a darker colour was better despite my colour schemes all consisting of pastel and light colours. That was all for last week, see you next week for more. Byeee!

Flat Plan
This is my first flat plan which i created on Microsoft word. I used colours from my colour scheme so i could visually see what it could potentially look like. You are able to see where i am planning on placing sections on my magazine cover. I can see that i need to make some areas larger as it needs to be visibly clear to make it look aesthetically pleasing,
This is my second flat pan which i have rearranged where it looks more packed and organised. I prefer for a cover magazine for the main image to be in the centre so i prefer my first flat pan as it is clearly the main concept and allows you to instantly pay attention to it. Also have included less in the second flat pan and the image is also a small portion of the magazine.

10.10.16 - Weekly Update
Revision Time. So this last week I had to use my knowledge of camera angles and the ability to justify the significance of them for my media induction test. Last week was fully revision but I still wanted to update you all on what is happening. So next week I'm going to start deciding colour schemes for my magazine as well as names. Keep checking for new posts. Byeeee!
03.10.16 - Weekly Update
Week 3 already! Last week was all mainly about gathering research for my magazine from people who I am aiming it to be towards (6 formers) It has been quite productive, I created a questionnaire on word for my target market and gave it to 20 individuals from the ages of 16-18 based upon themselves as well as magazines and 6form itself. This was to allow me to collect data to enable my school magazine to be effective and appealing. I then collected my results and using infogram I put the data into different chart formats depending on the question itself. This was a lot easier to see and understand the data and compare it to how the other results varied. This was quite a long task as it required a different chart for each question however I finally finished it. So that was all for last week come back next week for more updates. Byeeee!

26.09.16 - Weekly Update
I'm back! Week 2 of media went well I researched colour psychology and what each colour represented for example red being associated with both anger and love which are complete opposites. It was quite good to also understand the effort that goes into creating magazine covers and how the designers create a cover to present a particular visual image to convey to people. So I done this by comparing 2 different school magazines. Last week I done quite a lot so I then found a music video and attempted to identify a variety of different camera angles which allowed me to understand what effect it gives when watching the video. The last thing I done last week was contribute to a mind map full of ideas of magazine topic ideas. This was interesting to do because first I put all of my ideas onto paper and then I found a website called 'Coggle' which allowed me to brainstorm and expand my ideas. So that was all for last week. I will update you guys next week. Byeeee!
19.09.16 - Weekly Update
My first week of media is over and so far I really like it! I've learnt about Demographics and the idea of categorising individuals into 7 different groups depending on factors like pay. I further looked at Psychographics which places people into groups depending on their interest and attitudes. This was quite interesting to understand how people study individuals' behavior and patterns. Next week I am going to attempt to identify different camera angle and understand why they are used. I will update you guys next week about how much I'm enjoying media. Byeeee!

Camera Angles
Hi so today I learnt about camera angles, so using a music video i decided to screenshot a variety of camera angles the directors use to establish what is occurring in the music videos. Below I have further defined what each angle is and my interpretation of why it has been used using Beyonce's music video as an example.
- Close up - A certain feature of part of the subject takes up the whole frame. The director has placed this at the very beginning of the music video when she is speaking to ensure that all concentration is on her voice and nothing else.
- Wide angle shot- the subject takes up the full frame or at least as much as comfortably possible. Referring to this wide angle shot it displays everything in the shot taking up the frame, this was one of the first shots in the video.
- High angle - a shot that shows the subject from above this gives the effect of diminishing the subject, making them appear less powerful and less significant. This high angle shot is as if someone is up above and is very brief when in the video, you can barely identify where she is as it is not very clear either.
- Eye line/ eye level shot - this is the real world angle that we are used to. It shows subjects as we would expect to see them in real life. Similarly in this screenshot where Beyonce is seen standing at a similar height as you would in 'real life'.
- Establishing shot - A shot which establishes the positions of the element(characters) relative to each other and identifies the setting, normally a long shot which is often first in the sequence. Ironically this was one of the last shots of the video possibly to determine what has happened in the music video. Showing where and who she is with.
- Low angle shot - This shows the subject from below, giving the impression of being more powerful and dominant. In the shot below you are able to visually. In this music video i found this low angle shot referring to Beyonce feeling more powerful with freedom to do anything. Additionally the next shot pans out to show her standing on top of a car.
- Long shot - a shot in which large object (e.g.: a complete human figure) fits easily within the frame. Here you can see Beyonce is walking across the street clearly with her entire body fitting well within the frame as well as others on the left hand side.
- Two shot - A shot in which two characters appear in the frame. This is clearly shown in the example, however this is filmed whilst the two characters were underwater therefore this shot may be to focus on their expression and state they are currently in.
- Aerial shot - A shot filmed from an aeroplane, helicopter, blimp, balloon, kite, or high building e.g: higher than a crane.
- Over the shoulder shot - a shot taken over the shoulder of a character showing exactly what the character is seeing.
- Point of view shot - This shot is filmed from the character/ what the individual is looking at through the camera shot.
- Shot reverse shot - A filming technique where it is shot as if one character looking at another, and then is shot as the other character is looking at the first character. This is sometimes used to showcase and intensify both emotions.
- Mid Shot - A shot taken not too far and not too close (medium distance). This enables the individual to fit comfortably within the frame.
- Birds eye - This is usually shot from above from the perspective of how a bird would see the object.

School magazine analysis
Within this post I am going to analyse two different school magazines including my interpretation of why they have included particular aspects and what it represents/implies.
The front page does not look interesting however appears to be well presented as if it could potentially be a private school. After doing some research i found this was a secondary school that provide bursaries and scholarships as well as what seems a high education. The professionalism also gives the impression that it is a school that is deemed to be sophisticated but quite interactive due to the colour allowing it to further appeal to children to read the magazine. The background further looks more like a piece of artwork that is quite old and authentic as if they want to keep their previous style. It seems to show that it is targeted for students as well as parents or carers due to it being well formatted but still remains to have a laid back feel.
The contents page shows the variety of different activities and events showing they specialise in a variety of areas making it more diverse. The school has also included a welcome section on the contents page to ensure that the magazine and school itself is possibly well introduced with a picture included of the head teacher. This could also imply that to the parents the head teacher is aware and still present in making decisions even towards areas like the school magazine.
This magazine is different to the one above due to it being an international school based for families to be in education. This is not very common however from the front page it looks very welcoming due to the image being of an entire family. It also creates somewhat of a comfortable atmosphere due to it looking quite natural but not too professional making it look appealing for everyone to be involved within.
The contents page further shows the diverse community created by the school as well as presenting many different events and information that gives important knowledge to the families. The image also portrays an enjoyable experience relating to the theme of the magazine of school being enjoyable. Additionally the paragraph at the bottom of the page is similar to a brief introduction to the magazine showing that they truly care.

Colour psychology
Colour psychology can have different connotations towards
different people. Typically it is assumed to be the same for every individual
however differs depending on the person. Although it is usually surrounded by
the same subject. For example red is typically referred to coca cola.
Black - This
colour is quite dark and mostly represents dark connotations
like death, evil and power. Although it may
further represent formality due to many individuals wearing black
when dressing 'smart'.
Grey -
This colour is quite dull and boring and is some
cases not even considered a colour.
Brown - Brown does not represent a wide
variety of things however it can connote naturalness, strength,
reliability, sadness, isolation and security.
Green
- Green is instantly associated with nature as well as freshness
and possibly being healthy. However it further represents envy,
tranquillity and fertility which are all completely different
to each other.
Blue
- Can represent purity, cleanliness, trust, calmness, serenity,
productivity, sadness, and trust.
White -
This is commonly represents purity, emptiness, cleanliness, innocence
and coldness.
Purple - Purple is quite an unusual
colour which you could associate with royalty wealth and wisdom.
However it could further represent mystery and spirituality.
Pink - This is quite a pretty colour that
represents love, romance, and kindness, possibly calming and
referred to sweets.
Red - Red is one of the most common colour that represents
anger, love, romance, danger, passion and blood
due to it being an intense colour.
Orange - This colour is similar to brown however a lot is warmer and referred to excitement and enthusiasm however could also represent a warning or being alarmed

Demographics
So there are 7 different groups of how the demographic breaks the system down into groups job and pay. This allows individuals to define the adult population largely by work, labelling them by using a letter code to describe the income and status.
I was able to understand that the order descends from upper middle class being the top paid down to the population of unemployed individuals receiving benefits based upon the amount they earn.
A - Upper Middle Class (higher managers; Doctors; lawyers)
B - Middle Class (middle managers; teachers)
C1 - Lower Middle Class ( office workers)
C2 - Skilled working class (skilled manual workers; plumbers, builders, electricians)
D - Working Class
E - Unemployed receiving benefits
